Overpriced/Acceptable Food and Coffee.
Seattle is a coffee center, so everywhere there are coffee shops that are generally acceptable. The campus dining food is expensive since UW is relatively poor and needs more money. However, I was pretty happy about the dorm food such as great sandwiches and plenty of selection. The food on the avenue or the "ave" is pretty cheap and filling and there are many places to eat.

Cliquey but Accepting
There are a ton of different ethnic groups, mainly Caucasian and Asian. I find that people tend to stick with their groups, however, for many different reasons including language barriers, classes and lifestyles. It is more accepting than other more conservative places, but the challenge to overcome categorization can be tough. There are a lot of chances to get involved so it is not always a downside.

White and Rich but Not Entirely Stupid
It is cool to be smart around the UW, but mostly white, rich people are in the Greek system. Many stick to their own groups and are involved with philanthropy. I am not a fan of the system, and it is huge at our school, but the girls and boys aren't always categorized as ditzes. Many are very ambitious and join the system for networking for jobs. It is acceptable not to join.
