Small, Family-Oriented Community
Most of the college life is centered on campus and on the other 4 Claremont Colleges, but the Claremont Village is just a short walk off campus. There are restaurants, a movie theater, shops, cafes, and farmers markets a couple times per week. There are often families out and about, especially on weekends. Farther away are larger cities such as Pasadena and Los Angeles, with even more to do.

Mostly Residential College
Scripps is mostly a residential college, so the great majority of students live on campus all 4 years. Scripps offers some off campus options, such as houses and apartments, that are close to campus and cost the same as living on campus (minus the cost of a meal plan), and are generally high quality. There aren't as many student-oriented housing options, however, because it is a residential college. The housing on campus is rated 4th in the nation, though.

Transportation Not Needed - Everything on Campus!
Because Scripps is a residential college, transportation is not necessary. Parties, dorms, dining halls, classes, libraries, etc. are all located on campus within walking distance from each other. Local restaurants, movie theater, cafes, banks, and grocery stores also located within walking or biking distance from campus. A bike is handy, though.
