The Social Norm
Guys and girls at Reed College vary as much as night and day. With there being no division sports, there aren't as many jock types. However, they can still be found along with city boys, southern country boys, ravers, science geeks, math nerds, and artist types. With girls there is the jock girls who get up to run at 5 am, music and drama lovers, science geeks, poets, and so much more. There is a good selection of very good-looking people. And the dress styles vary as much as the students themselves.

Skip the Clubs
The nightlife in Portland around Reed is for students who are 21 and older. There are only a couple 18-and-older clubs, and they are not very close to campus. On the weekends it is easy to find house parties around Reed, or there might be one of the numerous dance parties being held in the Student Union or the Old Dorm Block. Which are free and have better music anyways. Plus, then there are no worries about having to pay for a cab to get back on campus.

Safe Place to Be
The Community Service Officers (referred to as the CSOs) are your friends. If you are in trouble, go to them. It doesn't matter what you have done, drugs, alcohol, whatever, if you are in trouble, they will help you. They may not approve of substance abuse, since it is against school code, but they are not likely to turn you over to the police either. They are not police, they are CSOs and there for you.
