Campus Housing at Stanford University

B+

As Long as It's With Friends

Though it's true freshman dorms are less fancy, the better part is that they are "homey." Living in old buildings that feel lived in have a sense of accomplishment and comfort. Upperclass dorms are more roomy and quiet so it can be depressing. What makes any dorm amazing is just being with your draw group or best friends. So no matter where you're living you're with them. The row houses have really good food and of course parties and location boasting.

Transportation at Stanford University

EASY

Stanford has the marguerite bus service that you can figure out roots to get you anywhere from wal-mart to the med school. Of course another option is your bike or walking. Stanford is huge but it isn't daunting to walk. It's beautiful and you know people at every meter from you.

Secretly Savvy

The truth is Stanford isn't just an upper level school. It's a place you can attend and meet some of the most inspiring, hard working, and truly interesting people that can help you become the best scholar and person. You can walk out your dorm room door, walk down the hall and see a computer science genius tapping away Rachmaninoff or have your friend tell you their off to research elephants or visit Antarctica. The secret is that everyone really is savvy in what they have dedicated themselves too and Stanford is savvy in the way they compose their student body. They set up events, programs, and a network that encourages integration of departments and cooperation between students and faculty. They throw freshman into seminars with engineering greats and have cs wizards teach intro level java. There's always an opportunity for the students to get involved; the only complaint students reported (I was at the dinner table with the former president of Stanford) was that there is so much to do that we feel like being here more than four years is necessary to not feel like you didn't forget to try a certain activity; when you choose a group you stay in that group...
