Well-Rounded Curriculum
Every department at UCLA is strong and well-regarded. However, many of the South campus professors (those who teach the "hard sciences") are foreign, non-native speakers and thus can be difficult to connect with. I entered as a neuroscience major and switched to economics/english after one year, and found that the professors in North campus are generally much warmer and more articulate. There is a wonderfully eclectic selection of majors and minors to choose from. Many new students fear the large-classroom atmosphere, but the discussion sections attached to each lecture are always more intimate and interactive; moreover, upper-division courses are almost invariably smaller.

Greek Life Is Not Stereotypical
Although I have never rushed for a sorority, I am somewhat familiar with the Greek scene at UCLA. Non-hazing policies are strictly enforced, and I have never heard any horror stories about the rushing process from people I've talked to. There are many pre-professional fraternities and sororities that help prepare students for careers in business, law, medicine etc. by providing connections, useful information, and opportunities to perform community service.

Transportation Is Easy
Although parking is extremely difficult, there are several bus stops just off of campus, and the Bruin Bus is generously discounted for UCLA students. Long-distance transportation is also easily achieved via train, which stops conveniently close to campus.

Attractive Girl to Attractive Guy Ratio=5:1
In my experience there have been far more attractive females than males at UCLA... Most guys tend to embody either the nerdy South campus stereotype or the athletic, frat-boy stereotype. The girls at UCLA are more uniformly good-looking, with fewer numbers on either end of the spectrum.
