It's All About What You Want.
Look, Emerson's campus is what it is. It's either what you're looking for, or it's not. It sounds like a cop-out answer but hear me out. When you go there you have to know what you're getting into. There's 8-9 building, all surrounding the Boston Common. It's not a traditional college campus; it's for self-motivated students interested in communications and the arts. If that's what you're all about, you'll love the facilities: multiple performing theaters, tons of high tech editing rooms, television studios, etc. But if you want a tradition college campus... you're at the wrong place.

Depends What You're Looking for!
Emerson has a reputation of being filled with nothing but "hipster" and "scene" kids.. and in a sense the reputation can be true. However, Emerson is a lot of diverse than people give it credit for. If you're into sports, then you can find your crew to hangout with. If you like the hipster crowd, then sure there's an abundance to choose from. As a straight male, I was plenty satisfied by the selection of beautiful girls. There's something for everyone, especially if you're a gay male.

Emerson Is What You Make of It.
It's the old cliche, but it's the truth. Emerson is exactly what you decide to put into it. Classes are mostly pretty easy. What makes Emerson special it's its variety of co-curricular activities students can get involved in. You've got to immerse yourself in the "Emerson Experience" to get the most out of it, and if you do that, you'll be satisfied. But if you just go to class, don't meet new people, and do your own thing, you won't be too happy. Food isn't too great on-campus, but who cares? You're in the heart of Boston!
