Good Opportunities for Real Experiences – Several education courses require observation/participation in real classrooms. The school sets these up (except for one class, which might be an issue for some people), and they are really valuable experiences. The more you put into these opportunities, the more you will get out of them.

A Lot of Work, but Helpful Teachers – The Graduate School of Education program builds from some easier classes to challenging courses near the end. Most classes are at night, but there are a few that require daytime work in a school setting. The school emphasizes reflection on our own teaching and philosophies; there are also many opportunities for collaborative work which is important to our future success.

Good Reputation and Concern for Students – Hamline's Graduate School of Education is well known and respected. Professors are usually very responsive to student needs and concerned for their success. There are high standards, and teachers work with students so they can achieve their goals.

Good Wireless Access – Wireless access is available and reliable throughout the campus. There is usually space in the library or other buildings to sit and use a personal laptop. There are also computers in the library for student use; these can be busy near the end of the semester.

Instructors Concerned About Students – While classes are rarely cancelled for snow or severe weather, most of my instructors have been aware of potential weather issues and will email students, giving them the option of not attending without penalty. Some classes also have some online sessions so atudents don't have to come on campus.

I Feel Safe – Most of my classes have been in the evening, and I have felt safe returning to my car at 9pm. I have never seen anything on campus that caused concern - day or night. There were some incidents on campus in the last year, but these affected people walking alone in the early morning hours. Emails were sent to all students to warn them of these incidents.
