Don't Do It
You should not live off-campus because on-campus housing is so wonderful!!!!!!! Have you ever seen Harry Potter? Harvard housing is like living at Hogwarts. I'm serious. You get put into a "house," where you live the rest of your college time. You eat in your house dining hall and get to know the rest of the people in your house well. It provides such a great built-in social network and it's a great way to meet a diverse and awesome group of people. House life is so wonderful. I strongly caution against living off-campus!!!

Depends on the Sport...
Sports teams get lots of resources (aka money), but the quality of the team and coaches depends a lot on the sport. Also, the culture of Harvard is that "coolness" depends on things other than athletic prowess, which I think is a shocker for some of the athletes. Here you're cool if you're smart and successful. Athletes have to work really hard to get great grades and still keep up with their sports. We have a great women's hockey team, men's basketball team, crew teams, etc. Don't come to Harvard for volleyball. I'm not really familiar with the other sports. Don't come to Harvard if you want to go pro, but do come if you want to play sports in college and then go into a different profession.

Finals Clubs
The finals clubs are for people who like to party and have the money to party in an expensive furious way. There are usually dorm parties going on, too. Night clubs exist, but I think most people stay on campus to party.
