Places for interaction with fellow students is great, especially in the game room lounge on the top floor and the "upstairs caf" as my friends and I have decided to nickname the upper level of the cafeteria. The library is huge, and there is even a "silent study" floor, so it is a wonderful refuge for peace and quiet, especially during finals week. You can even catch a snooze or two in the study cubbies if you're doing way too many last-minute papers :D There could be a few more computers in the library or slightly faster modems, but this is just a tad picky of me here. Student Activities is a wonderful place, and they are always eager to see students become involved in campus life.
Occasional Favoritism by Professors, but Overall Great Teachers – For the most part, professors are very down to earth and want to see fellow students succeed. Classrooms are relatively small, as that fosters a 1-1 relationship between student and professor, so extra help is readily available if needed. The small class experience is great, and most of the teachers I have had were outstanding. Few have even become role models that I will forever look up to throughout the rest of my life.
Overall- Great People – Here you will get to meet some friends that you would take a bullet for. The opportunities to become involved and get to reach out to peers is limitless. Many fellow students and I will joke around and playfully call this place "High School 2.0", as you will sometimes run into petty drama, and absolute immaturity. Please realize that this is bound to occur wherever you go, and for a former high school introvert like me, there is no place that I would have rather called home than RV.
Great price for your momey's worth. And if you even have a question about your financial aid situation, academic advisors are very helpful.
Words can't even describe how amazing this school is – Aside from an occasional judgemental or incorrigable professor (who can be found anywhere you go) and horrendous parking, this school is nothing short of amazing. I was the type of student who was quiet all throighout high school, and passed my time through sleeping in the back of the room. This college has become like a second home to me. The students there are very accepting, and the campus is so diverse. You can be yourself at RV, and get to know some very close friends along the way. Advising and counselling services are outstanding. Unlike high school, where counsellors are simply getting paid to do a job, the ones up at RV genuinely care about student's success and well-being. I have learned so much about myself within the past 2 1/2 years here.
