Nearly Excellent, but for Eventual Lack of Variety.
My friends and I are big fans of Commons, the one and only true dining hall at Davidson College, which offers three meals a day on the freshman meal plan (including weekends!). Commons operates on a somewhat rotational schedule, so most of the meals show up for a day and don't come back for a little while, giving a fair amount of variety. It's easy to see how one could quickly tire of the meals here, though, and the Union has a stagnant menu that doesn't offer much in the way of vegetarian options.

The Honor Code in Full Effect.
There really aren't that many safety or security problems at Davidson, due in large part to the Honor Code. Here, it isn't just a talking point for tours and prospective student literature; it's a way of life. Kids rarely lock the doors to their dormitories because they feel safe, and it's not uncommon to see people post classified ads in our daily email saying, "Someone lost money by [building]. Email me with the amount if it was you."

Difficult but Worthwhile.
There's no doubt about it; Davidson is a tough school. Every course is a little more challenging than you might expect, every assignment a little more daunting. The payoff, then, is that classes here are fantastic. The professors know what they're talking about and lecture with excitement, and almost all of them are eager to meet with you during their office hours (or even outside of them) to discuss everything from upcoming assignments to political views to the latest episode of their favorite television show. The optimal Davidson student is willing to work hard on subjects because he or she simply loves to learn. And if that's you, you've found the right place, because learning happens every minute of every day.
