Off-Campus Housing at Dartmouth College

A-

Close to Campus

The apartments are very close to campus and a great value. If you live off-campus you probably end up paying less than students who live on campus. However, off-campus living is not extremely popular so if you want it, it's always available, affordable, and convenient.

Diversity at Dartmouth College

A

Very Diverse-Especially for New Hampshire

While white is the majority, all races are prevalent on campus. As with most colleges, self-segregation is an issue but all groups are equally as accepting of other races and cultural backgrounds. The LGBT community is out in the open and accepted by everyone. As far as socio-economic status, there are a lot of rich, private school kids. There's no discrimination against those on financial aid but at times the way of thinking of rich kids compared to middle class kids can be weird. But I think people of any culture or class would overall be comfortable at Dartmouth.

Drug Safety at Dartmouth College

C

We Drink...A Lot

Drinking is everywhere, all the time. If you are very against drinking, I would suggest trying a different school. It dominates the social scene. It's not just a part of the social scene it IS the social scene. For many students and good night means getting very drunk, and that's all. There's no peer pressure but if you don't drink you might not have very much fun being surrounded by a bunch of drunk people. Drugs are here too, but pretty hidden, but definitely there if you want them. Alcohol, however, is unavoidable.

Local Atmosphere at Dartmouth College

D

Cute but Boring

The town seems adorable at first, but you can exhaust everything there is to do in less than three terms. The town likes the students and we make up a lot of the town, but once you've eaten everywhere and gone in every store, you're out of things to do. There aren't really and franchise stores either so you're really going to miss McDonalds and Target. There's a town nearby but it's not convenient to get to. You might get bored.

Computers at Dartmouth College

A+

Everywhere

If you need one, which you probably won't because all undergraduates are required to have a laptop they're available, always.
