Lots of Churches in Town
Our campus, I would say is mostly liberal, but we are not a very politically driven campus. I rarely see any protests or at least I hear about it the next day. We do have a lot of churches in town so there must be a large enough population for it, but none of my friends attend.

Everyone Drinks
It seems to me that pretty much everyone drinks. We are a pretty big party school and students want to blow off steam. There isn't a lot of peer pressure as you get older and if you want to stay in one night no one is going to say anything bad.

Beware of Parking Tickets
Parking officials are always out and if you are parked on the street longer than 24 hours, you WILL get ticketed. Tickets are $20 and gets turned over to the university if you don't pay it.

Homecoming Is the Best!
Homecoming is always fun! Everyone dresses up and gets to the parking lot early to pregame and drink. Not that many people actually go to the game because we're not that good, but it's still fun!

Barely See Any Campus Police
I hardly see any campus police walking around campus. I do see them at the bar at closing time or riding around on bikes when it's nice out. I don't know exactly how to get in touch with them either.

Landlords Are Difficult
You need to stay away from certain landlords like Young America and Redbird realty. They honestly suck!

Uptown Normal Is Fun During the Week
Uptown Normal is the best place to be during the week. There are always drink specials and it's always fun.

Lots of Chain Restaurants
There are a lot of chain restaurants around normal, but if you travel outside campus there are a lot more local places that are very good to eat at!

Student Health Services Cheap
If you're sick or anything, the student health services are always helpful and the medications are cheap. They work with you to find the perfect thing.

Watterson Is the Best!
Watterson is in the center of campus and always busy. It is the biggest dining hall in the midwest (and possibly the country?) There are so many people that live there which means it's never a dull moment. The only downside is moving in because the elevators stop on every 3rd floor so you might have to walk up/down stairs.

There's a Lot of Hooking up
Most people who meet each other understand that it is not for a long term relationship and that means there is a lot of hooking up. There are those people who do get into relationships, but most people know that this is college and most people just want to have fun.

All Seasons Are Represented
We experience all seasons being in the midwest from really hot to snowy and cold. We usually get at least one snow/cold day a year (second semester). President Bowman is always on top of it and sends an email within notice.
