Computers at Uconn
The internet at UConn was pretty reliable in terms of wireless in the dorms. However, if the wireless was ever down the ethernets in the dorms often require splitters, which can be a bit annoying. My last year at the school they updated many of the computers, including the computers at the library, which were very nice Macs. However, I relied heavily on my personal laptop and I can't imagine not having that since the regular Windows desktops at the library or in the school are often being used and sometimes there are lines of students waiting to use them.

Off-Campus Housing
The off-campus housing closest to the school is not great and is pretty costly. Most of the homes require you to pay additional for all the utilities and for the quality you don't get what you pay for as they are pretty old. Once in a while you can find a great option near by, but usually the farther you go off campus the better the option in terms of cost. Some apartment complexes like Carriage and Celeron are known for their party atmosphere and do not have updated utilities or a lot of space AT ALL.

Financial Aid
For me, I had a difficult time obtaining any scholarships, particularly need-based scholarships. However I was able to easily find an on-campus job that picked up the cost of many of my living expenses and books etc.
