Local Atmosphere at University of Miami

B+

Coral Gables Is What You Make of It

There are better parts of town than others. Coconut Grove is a great attraction, except for Grand Avenue which is generally seen as "run down," or "unsafe" (not necessarily true). Coral Gables is an isolated, upper-middle class to wealthy community about 40 minutes away from the attractions of South Beach, 20-30 minutes away from Brickell, and ten minutes away from South Miami. Many residents are the students that go to Miami, who themselves are from an upper-middle class or wealthy background. Homogeneity runs rampant. Nightlife and restaurant scenes are good, at best.

Off-Campus Dining at University of Miami

Outside of Campus, the Food Is Good

Coral Gables/South Beach/Coconut Grove/Brickell/South Miami - in any one of these surrounding neighborhoods to the university you'll find a diverse and delicious array of dining options - from street food (the food trucks are amazing) to fine dining.

Greek Life at University of Miami

Love, the Greatest of All Things

Home away from home, and one of the main reasons I didn't transfer after freshman year. The Greek community at Miami is relatively small, but for those who are in it, it makes the campus experience fun and exciting. Mixers, special events, beach days and formals make for a packed calendar.
