Safety on Campus
Despite our location near the city, one always feels safe walking on campus. Traveling at night alone is still not recommended, but if necessary, there are plenty of safety precautions taken. In my experience, I have noticed campus security cars patrolling campus and emergency call boxes are located throughout campus. Campus safety always seems to be on top of things, especially parties.

Dining- the Great Debate
Depending on exactly which dining hall is used, the food ranges from terrible to mediocre to decent. Options that provide a more buffet or all you can eat style dining are worse than the more cafeteria, grab-and-go options. However, the one dining hall open late night is exceptional. Overall, price and value are not the best. Things seem over priced, especially for how gross some of the food can be. I often question whether or not it is actually worth it.

Being at a Private University
Loyola is a private, Jesuit University, so the polices are strict and rigid. The guest policy for freshmen living in the dorms is horrible and terribly, terribly strict. Campus safety is also extremely strict on parties and rowdiness. None is tolerated. If you get caught once, you are usually given a warning. But given the severity, you may even be charged on the first offense!
