Health & Safety at Northeastern University

B+

Completely Safe

Northeastern is quite the safe-haven considering the fact that it is surrounded by some of the sketchier areas of Boston. You'll see plenty of students walking around campus at all hours of the night, so whether you're walking back from a late library date or from a friend's dorm, you'll always feel safe.

Campus Dining at Northeastern University

A-

Lots of Selection

Northeastern has three main dining halls: IV (international village), Stetson East, and Stetson West. Stetson East had it's own vegan and gluten free section. The dining halls all have options that accommodate almost any individual. Freshmen are required to start with 15 meals per week until second semester where they can either raise it to 19 meals or lower it to 10. Northeastern also has Outtakes which is located between Stetson East and West where you can use meals and get "take-out" food using a point system. Overall, the campus food just continues to get better and better. Northeastern is very open to student input and tries hard to implement the advice recieved.

Campus Strictness at Northeastern University

B+

Use Common Sense

Overall, Northeastern is pretty strict when it comes to alcohol, drugs, and violence. Depending on who your RA's (resident assistants) are, you can either get away with a lot or nothing at all. But it all comes down to common sense. If you're at a dorm party and a ton of people are drunk and crazy and loud....it's probably a good idea to leave. As for off campus parties, Boston Police rarely get involved because they have better things to do. NU police, however, don't so they'll break up loud parties. The majority of the time they just tell everyone to leave and don't check IDs. If, by chance, you get caught doing something stupid, you'll probably have to report to OSCCR and there will be a hearing to determine the punishment. They try to scare you with all of this "expulsion" crap at orientation, but it's really not that strict.
