Small Town
Gettysburg is a small town and most of their income comes from tourism. There are restaurants in walking distance that are good but definitely appeal to the tourism aspect. They are good but are more appropriate to take your parents to than go with your friends.

Isolated
The closest airport to Gettysburg is BWI which is about a 1.5 hour drive. You can take the shuttle from campus but it costs $20 each way. You can also take the shuttle to the Amtrak station in Harrisburg for the same price. Other than that, there isn't transportation to other places.
