Good Ethnic Diversity
While touring campus I saw many different ethnicities throughout the school. Among that, there seems to be a large economic diversity as well. From what I can tell there is also great acceptance for people on the gay and lesbian community. The school also offers a variety of programs for those with religious backgrounds.

Fun Beautiful Campus
What makes UC Santa Cruz so special is that it is located perfectly between the redwood trees, giving the campus an outdoor, woodsy feel. The campus is right around the beach area and the boardwalk, which in the summer months becomes very popular with visitors. There are clubs and events going on throughout the school year, such as concerts and festivals. The school is great for me, in particular, because not only does is offer a major in Astrophysics, not a very common major, it actually specializes in it, making the school a perfect choice for me. The university also owns two observatories, one is San Diego and one in Hawaii, giving me much desired opportunity to travel and take advantage of these amazing facilities and the same time.
