College Park- Do Not Live Here
I live in an apartment complex which is a 3 min drive from CMC, this place is horrible! Apart from the two higher ranking people who work here and the gardeners, the other leasing office people are mean and vindictive. They are NOT friendly to college kids as much as they like to say they are, they put you next to real people- families, cops, old people hoping that they will keep you under control. I don't do drugs but there are 3 different cops living close to me, it's just not nice to know. It will make so much more sense to have a corner for college kids because now, EVERYONE is unhappy! This place is also really expensive and unsafe. MY CAR GOT BROKEN INTO RIGHT OUTSIDE OF MY APT BUILDING!

Great, If You Don't Want to Go Pro or Don't Care for a D1 Program
We have an excellent tennis, lacrosse, and rugby team that do well every year. Football games are fun to watch but unfortunately the team is only OK as the school does not put a lot of money into it! Just got a new football coach, hopefully things will change. The cheerleading team is a joke with 5 or 6 wannabes in it....
I don't know if this factors in but ROTC is quite a reputable program at CMC.

Cops Are Friends
Anything that happens on campus, stays on campus. My first day, the Claremont Police came and gave us a presentation and told us that "if it's in a red plastic cup, it's ok." Watch out though, if you get in trouble off campus, you are on your own....which is why all the partying is done on campus! THE COLLEGE PAYS FOR THE BEER!

MATHEMATICA FOR FREE
Lots of computers, not so many round about midterms/finals. Wireless EVERYWHERE. You can get Mathematica for free on your computer if you ask the IT dept.

You can go to one of the 7 or 8 dining halls on all 5 campuses! And then there are student cafes as well...

A Lot of Pretentiousness on the School's Part
They try and punish kids when they get too drunk and get alcohol poisoning (which is legal if you are of age, just stupid) but they ignore kids that do drugs because it looks bad on them if they recognize there is a drug problem, which there is. Lots of weed, some cocaine underground, and ecstacy is gaining ground at Scripps College. If you wish to avoid it, there is no pressure whatsover. Walk away.

The Maids Clean It Every Two Weeks
A cleaner to clean your dorm room?? Ridiculous! The only downside is only half the buildings have air-conditioning. The big party dorms do not have a/c, so you just have to pick the tradeoff. No matter, all dorms are so close to each other and the classrooms are very close. You do not have to walk more than 10 mins anywhere.

Pay the extra $200 do get secure parking at the Scripps Parking lot, you never have to fight with anyone!

A Shift in the Type of Kids CMC Attract
I have a lot of alum friends. CMC used to attract some awesome old school republicans and libetarians that were focused econ or gov majors very driven and all about working hard and taking responsibilities for their future and the parties were wayyy crazier back in the day (not just about getting drunk and blacking out, more about doing crazy funny stuff when drunk). These alums are now making s*** tons of money for the most part. Nowadays, we attract more "bros" who just want to get as drunk as they can and make a fool of themselves or talk about their feelings and why a lit major is important. I will still pick CMC again because none of the CMC profs are bros, and a good few strong men and women still remain in the former description of CMC kids.
