Drinking More Popular – There really isn't many drug incidents that occur on campus. Drinking is something more popular on campus.

There really is not any transportation that is provided at the school. However, there are taxies. Most students do own cars, and for the ones that do not everything is in walking distance including the stores for students to get to.

There are a lot of parking lots on campus, with different fees depending on how close you would like to be to your dorm or apartment. There is enough parking for everyone, however, the only problem would be students who bring their cars to campus without permits. That somewhat limits the parking available.

Need Computer – Although, Whitewater has a computer lab in each dorm, and in the University Center there is also a lab, as well as the library, it is just as important to have your own computer. The reason for this being, that the labs are often filled, and when you are working on projects and papers late at night, it is more of a safety and convenience factor. However, if you do use the school computers, they often work very well with minimum problems. The only thing is waiting to print your information from the printers.

I am apart of the political science department so there are not a ton of professors. This is a good thing because it allows us students to build close relationships with our professors. Because of our major, we recieve a rigorous workload and curriculum, that is sometimes over-bearing but very helpful. The political science department helps to provide its students with intership/job opportunities, however, some of which are not very helpful.

So Much, So Little – There are a variety of things that can be done around or near the campus. The local atmosphere includes a ton of restaurants, multiple sports bars and grills where students can go to watch the basketball and football games, two grocery stores, one of which is a super walmart, and one clothing store. If students are looking to go shopping there nearest town is only 30 minutes away in Janesville.

Not So Much – UW-Whitewater is currently working on campus inclusiveness and diversity. However, the majority of the campus is primarily white students and white professors and faculty. There are some international students, as well as minority students, but the campus is primarily white. And the consequence of this is that minority students do not get as much of a voice on campus.

Great Experience, Many Different Choices – Living off campus in an apartment is a great experience I think all the students should do if they have the opportunity. There are a wide variety around the campus to choose from. All close to campus as well as close to the grocery stores, or fast food restaurants. For the most part they are very affordable. However, there are a few that are really nice that are really hard for students to afford unless they have at least 2 or 3 roomates, and one of these is provided by the school at the price of a dorm so that is really nice. Some of the really affordable ones are not always the nicest to live in though.

Could Be Better – There are a lot of scholarships out there from the school, however, it is very difficult to even meet the bare minimum requirements for them. Also, the process of obtaining your school records is a really big hassle, and takes forever. You have to constantly follow up. In the long run though, it is worth it.

Help Always Available – At Whitewater, there are a number of academics available, as well as help. The teachers are always available in case a student needs help, as well as resources in the library. A primary source of help if you cannot meet with your professor during their office hours is the tutoring center. There you can always receive help, from fellow students and adults. The hours are very flexible.
