B-
Come on People, Its Just a Dorm
the title says it all. i don't know what kind of elaborate living kids come from at home, or why they expect student housing (that holds thousands of kids) to be just as fancy, but the dorms do the job for me. Ultimately, your dorm, and your room, is what you make it. And any dorm, as a freshman provides that "college experience." No matter where you end up, being a freshman in the dorm provides the best opportunity to meet people freshman year.
Lawrinson: recently completely renovated. separate, private bathrooms with own sink, shower, and toilet and a door to lock for privacy! (a really nice feature). However, very hard to socialize in this high rise the way the floors are built. no on leaves there door open, and it was always quiet when i went in there (weird). But they do have their own mini computer lab and their own bookstore on the first floor. Kind of far away from main campus (its right by the dome) . i was i sadler though (right next store) and i really enjoyed the fact you met so many people from lawrinson because you all eat in the same dining hall in Sadler! Kind of like it's own little community
Sadler: Definitely old, definitely NOT renovated. but its long hallways made living there as a freshman great because everyone was so social and opened their doors . my year there was a great experience, and only having to roll out of bed and go down a few floors to the dining hall was a plus. also being right next to the dome for games with very convenient- kids from sadler/lawrinson always had the best student section seats!
BBB: Yeah, the b's should stand for boondocks. The three dorms that are connected in it's own little mini campus are pretty far as well. However- newly renovated EVERYTHING might make the extra walk worth it...especially when BBB constantly gets the nod as having one of the better dining halls , has a gym, andd a great social atmosphere. BBB makes it triple as easy to meet new people!
Dellplain: I'd say probably the BEST dorm to live in as a freshman due to the fact you are most centrally located on campus. This large dorm with a lot of freshman is closest to the library, many academic buildings , fraternity/sorority row, and the newest dorm (ernie davis). These residents get to dine in the new ernie davis dining hall and have quick access to ernie's new gym.
Ernie Davis: new. BRAND NEW. downside though is smaller rooms (all split doubles too) , and there is only 1 or 2 floors of freshman, making socializing and getting to know new people really hard if you are a freshman.
