Living Breathing Spanish
By involving myself in the Spanish program at Hollins I am given amazing opportunities. For example, I live in a Spanish House, where we all speak Spanish in all the common areas, which really helps my conversational Spanish skills and helps me feel more comfortable with the language. Also the opportunities to study in a Spanish speaking country are plentiful and affordable. I plan on studying in Argentina during our short term next year, but students also may study abroad for a semester or full year. Above all, I love my Spanish professors and adviser. They are all very personable and helpful. The classes have always been small so I have more face-to-face time with my professors.

The Skinny on an All-Girls School
First off I will break all stereotypes and say that the drama at an all girls' campus is much lower than other campuses!! The lack of males in the classroom is unnoticeable and there are many off-campus hangout places to meet guys. The girls are not catty at all, unless you get in an extremely over the top dramatic lesbian relationship, but most girls do well at avoiding that. Some weekends may feel a little limiting, but overall the all girls' experience gives much more room for a female student to truly be her amazing self.

Dead Campus?
On a normal day the Hollins campus dies around 4:30 because most classes have finished. However, we do have many excellent organized parties, most notably ones hosted by our North End Fine Arts (NEFA) students. Some may say that Hollins is absolutely not a party school, and it isn't, but you can always find a party on the weekends if you would like one. The nightlife is usually hidden, but is still always a good time.
