Off-Campus Housing at Florida International University

F

OFF Campus Housing

With no tricky words I have to say the off campus options are horrendous. The first hindrance you may find is the high price of renting in Miami. Everybody knows Miami itself, is expensive but if you live near to FIU is even more. I think landlords take advantage of the situation as students and rise their houses prices.

Then if you try to find a cheaper rent you have to go to suburb areas, of course far away from University and a decent crime rate in the national average. Also counting the tafic is so crowd in peak hours and you can easily spend hours to get FIU from this places, even with your own car.

Is almost imposible work part time and pay any rent around the University, "am talking about you and a roommate",don't hesitate your mind thinking you can live in Miami with a part time job and even less study at the same time.

By another hand I got not Idea if the school services are involved with the purpose of helping students find housing options.

Weather at FIU

I think the weather is nice most time of the year. Exempting when the presence of a Hurrican so the classes have to stop and you have to keep inside your shelter, until the phenomenum has gone. Also you may notice a lot of rainy days but it does not limit you to do any activity.

Inside Scoop at Florida International University

Inside Scoop

Despite the renting prices and the high level life outside the University, remember you are in Miami. I could say the University has a good reputation academically. With proffesors from everywhere and top notch acknowledged. The tuition as a public University keeps being affordable for every student and is almost nothing if you receive financial aid. Of course I am talking about InState tuition.

The University is Home for hispanic students, being the most existing ethnic what is favorable for the cultural diversity. Finally I'd say this is a growing institution that is having good results in fields like engineering and science wich are well demanded in current days
