Which meal plan is the best/most common at UCLA for freshman?

I would recommend that you start off with a meal plan that includes 2 meals a day for the reason that many don't even utilize all meal courses and whether you use them ot not, you have already been charged for it.

Is it possible to defer your admission at Macalester? If so, how would you do it? I am considering traveling to Paris to live and work with my best friend.

From the school website: DEFERRED ADMISSION

Each year, some students who have been offered first-year admission to Macalester request the deferral of their admission. Deferrals may be granted for a variety of reasons, most commonly to allow a student to spend time overseas. Deferral requests, which are approved at the discretion of the Dean of Admissions, are granted for a period of one academic year. There are no semester deferrals. Candidates should be aware, however, that Macalester will accept no more than the equivalent of 20 semester credit hours for academic work completed prior to matriculation at Macalester, whether earned during secondary school or during the deferral period.

Deferral requests or questions about the deferral process should be directed to the Admissions Office.

Decisions regarding credit are made by the Registrar.

For more information, call the Registrar's Office at (651) 696-6200.

I still haven't received a decision?? What's going on? I'm applying as US/IB student!

same here! do you know how much they weight Act/grades and IB prediction?

ACT grades are taken very seriously there. If you haven't passed the bottom line that they say they will accept, based on ACT grades, they won't accept you. And I do not know about IB. You definitely should have heard by now. They are only going to tell you via email, you will not receive physical mail. Check your Minerva account in the applications section. If it still says decision pending, email admissions.

Same here. When I emailed, they told me to check the dates that they post admissions for International Students (I go to an American High School in Saudi Arabia). So weird.

Applying to engineering, by the way. My grades aren't bad at all. I don't even care if I get rejected, as I got into the UofT program...but I just need a decision, even if it's a rejection.

Don't worry, I got accepted today and I've been waiting for the longest time ever too. It's not impossible for you to get in, McGill just happens to be horrible about meeting the deadlines.

I still have "Further Review Required" on my application, as well -_-. And I've sent in everything since February the 15th. It's so frustrating.

And Congrats on your acceptance! :D What faculty, if I may ask?

I was accepted into the faculty of science. Don't worry, I've actually seen a bunch of people on forums complain that they haven't gotten their decisions all the way until May. Some didn't even get decisions up to June, though I believe that's only an issue for international students. It's really annoying, I understand. Good Luck!

I got accepted to Macalester and UCLA, both very different schools I know, but I am having a hard time choosing. I am majoring in environmental studies, minor in film.

Go to UCLA for both of those programs of study

If you're serious about film, go to UCLA. I don't think we offer film at all, and if we do our program won't compare to theirs. Our environmental studies program though is really good, and I know people who major in it tend to do well after they graduate, so in that respect either would work and you can just decide based on the other factors (we are certainly very different from UCLA)

UCLA or Boston U for film?

UCLA. Academics are unparalleled, it's known all over the world, and you are in the HEART OF LA (film capital).

+1

UCLA for sure, if you have that opportunity! The film program at BU is so-so; not very well known or respected in its field. UCLA is one of the best!

and since UCLA is a state school it will be cheaper even though you are from out of state

UDel or UCLA for Marine science/environmental policy?

I don't know about UCLA, but I know that UD has a really good marine science program. They have their own separate school down at the beaches in Lewes where they do all types of testing and research. I went down there on a trip for my high school and it's pretty awesome!

Accepted! I honestly wasn't considering UCLA until I got this acceptance, but I am a little worried about the size? How are the classes?

Depends on what class you are taking. Some GE classes have up to 400 students, while some math classes have 200 students. Writing classes, on the other hand, have about 20 students per class.
