We Make Our Own Fun.

The drug scene is kind of like any other college campus. If you don't do drugs, it won't really affect your social life. It's not like there are drug cliques. Weekend life is centered on drinking. Although there is a lot of drinking, I don't feel that it is really problematic. Students find fun and creative ways to drink socially without bingeing dangerously. Beloit college students really do know how to have fun and drink in creative and safe ways. The policy enforcement is very relaxed and understanding. You don't really get in trouble unless you are being obnoxious or making stupid or harmful decisions.

Easy

Parking is incredibly easy. There are lots of parking spaces very close to the dorms. Since parking is so available, very few people have to deal with tickets or fines. You don't have to have a car on campus, although it is helpful if you are the kind of person who needs to escape the college bubble frequently. It's a luxury, but most people do just fine without one. The campus provides many trips and rides to nearby cities and attractions. Most people don't take advantage of it because there is plenty to do on campus.

Because Beloit college is small so all the professors and faculty are really invested in your success. That means they provide you with unlimited amounts of help and attention. If you are struggling in or outside of the classroom, there will always be a support system available to you. They also do a great job advising you if you don't know what you want to major in. The social scene is incredible. Although living far away from a major urban center has its drawbacks, I think it also makes campus life that much greater because Beloit students have mastered the art of making their own fun. They bring a lot of local bands in to preform and lots of student activities. If you want something to happen on campus, there is always a way to make it happen. I think what makes the college so great is how much everyone likes being here.

Beloit Is Not a Happening Place

No one comes here for the great local atmosphere of Beloit, Wisconsin. The town is really run-down with not much to do. It is getting better though. There are lots of opportunities for community service. Since it is so rural there are a lot of camping, hiking and outdoors locations nearby that the outdoor environmental club takes advantage of. You can go for a swim in turtle creek when the weather gets nice or walk down to a restaurant. Chicago and Madison aren't too far so if you really want to go do something cultural you should go there. Lots of students go to either city for concerts or shows or big attractions.

Not Too Shabby

Although there is a lot of crime outside the campus in the city, the campus itself is very safe. You never have to worry about walking from one place to another late at night as long as you are on campus. Stealing is not a huge issue. The security officers are awesome. They are helpful and understanding and really cool just to talk to. I think the relaxed alcohol policy helps make the campus a safer place to drink. No one is afraid to call security if their friend has had too much to drink because they know they are just going to try to help make sure they are safe instead of try to get you in trouble.
