I've Never Really Explored Off-Campus Housing
but there have been many issues with them. It's available (everyone I know who has looked for a place to stay has found one) and generally average in price, but most houses are under code and dangerous. We just had a fire in one that displaced over ten students into on-campus housing because their landlord did not pay enough attention and there were too many people living in the house.

Be Smart and You Won't Get Caught
I have been to many underage small drinking gatherings in dorm rooms and not one of them has been found out by public safety or the RA's. As long as you keep a fairly decent volume there's almost no way to be found out, and when you are found out you just get written up and a slap on the wrist from what I've heard.

On the Surface
Everything about life at Hofstra is just on the surface; begin to look a little deeper and you'll rarely find any substance. Most of the programs and events, even the security feels shallow, like it's mainly for show for the rich parents of the students that go here. The classes are for the most part embarrassingly easy and the students in general are of below-average intelligence. However, those with initiative can make the most of their experience and really learn from the better professors and the many speakers and programs held here.
