Big School, Small Town
Auburn is a small community that probably would not exist without the university. Close-by Opelika is a bit larger and home to some industry. The atomosphere there more of a southern US working town with all the typical restaurant chains and retail stores. Auburn is home to a few of the same near the interstate and has a couple of charming local favorites for a burger or lemonade across the street from Samford Hall. It has a quiet and calm atmosphere for the majority of the year, but when football season rolls around, Auburn can become a crowded, bustling, and exciting place. Tailgating is a tradition that has to be experienced, with Tiger fans willing to share the products off the grill or the ice-cold beverage from the cooler. "War Eagle!" is a greeting among Auburn fans, alumni, and students alike and most will say that Auburn is the prettiest town on the plains.

Research Profs Knowledgeable
The professors at Auburn are mostly very experienced and involved in research projects. Some are more devoted to the research than to teaching which can be a problem. These usually defer to their TAs to assist students. Others are more approachable and are interested in investing in the student to see them succeed.
