Academics at Texas A&M University

B

Very Well Rounded School

Although the Academics at Texas A&M University are typically well-rounded, it is known to be more challenging than most schools when concerning Engineering, Mathematics, and Science.

Professors are not always top-notch, so it is wise to use a professor-reviewing website such as "Rate My Professor" when choosing classes for the next semester. However, the curriculum is very thorough and the University provides "Living Learning Communities" in which you live in the same housing hall as peope who are also in your major. For class involving arithmetic and concepts, there are typically free tutoring sessions provided by the University during the weekday. The workloads are tough, especially in a science-involving major. However, tutoring and resources are almost always readily available.

Nightlife at Texas A&M University

B+

Northgate: the Drinking and Clubbing Hotspot

Northgate (located across the northern gate of campus) has a nice variety of clubs and bars. While the bars are strict on carding, 18-20 year olds are allowed in the clubs and bars. They just can't drink. The majority of the clubs and bars in the area have a western theme, so it is nearly mandatory to own a pair of cowboy boots. ALso, prepare to be overwhelmed by country music.

Despite the fact that the drinking hotspots are all so close to campus, Texas A&M University is not a "party school." Parties typically are not as easy to find in comparison to its rival schools. However, people are very friendly and there is still much to do.

Inside Scoop at Texas A&M University

The Aggie Spirit

Texas A&M University is known for its vibrant and friendly atmosphere. At least, that's what all the brochures and campus tour guides told me.

Luckily, they were completely right. People are always friendly here and willing to help you out. Once I lost my wallet and, within 30 minutes, I got it back with everything intact. I'm not the only one who has experienced this.

In addition to the incredibly friendly atmosphere, the engineering, mathematics, and science programs are all very impressive and challenging.
