Unsure of Campus Security
I have attend UCD for 1 year now and I have yet to see any enforcement by campus security. We receive frequent emails on security issues and things to be aware of, however the only time i see security is when they are writing parking tickets. I also see the occasional sign posted at a security desk stating that a particular activity has been taking place. As a former security guard I am disappointing the campus security is not incredible active. Without a more active security force it seems unlikely campus policies are strictly enforced.

Need for Affordable Parking
At campus they is plenty of parking at all different price ranges. However the campus strongly pushes public transportation but providing a bus pass that is part of the tuition fees. When the bus is already paid for the semester and daily rates for parking can get ridiculous this force students on small budgets to public transportation. However parking rates only discourage some. Among the many lots most fill up by the afternoon. With the cheapest lots filling first thing in the morning. I understand that it is difficult to provide better parking options at a school that is so centrally located, but i miss my small community college with free parking.

Open Campus Can Be Unsafe
With such a large open campus and Colorado often volatile weather campus can often see natural hazards. This year was mild for snow so far but we did have a few big storms. During one of these storms the wind and snow took down a large section of tree right outside the campus library. Because of the large amount of snow removal of this tree was postpone for a few days thus hindering traffic in and out of the library. This campus is very busy and any hindrance of a walkway creates excessive traffic in other areas. The campus is pretty good about keeping paths open but sometimes they just can't fight Colorado weather.
