Health & Safety at University of California - Irvine

One of the Safest Campuses Around

UCI has one of the safest campuses in California. Even while walking back from class in the dark, a lone student has no real need for concern. Blue emergency lights are set up all over campus, and with one touch of a button will call the campus police for any student in distress. Although these emergency lights are a great convenience for every student, they are usually not needed. During my time on campus I have not heard any reports on campus crime. Even if there is any crime I know that the campus police will do a great job in fixing it, like they did to calm down the Reverend Jones issue. The university's atmosphere is calm, safe, and fills its students with a strong sense of trust and security.

Stong and Talented Athletics With State-Of-The-Art Gym

Not only does UCI have strong and outgoing teams, particularly basketball and soccer for both genders, but it also as a state-of-the-art gym called the Ark. This gym is one of the best and most expensive in California, and is even used by basketball star Cobe Byrant. The Ark is available for all students, and is taken to great advantage, especially during finals week when stress is high.

Drugs and Alcohal? Not a Problem

UCI is not a party school, although it does have its fair share, and drug and alcohol related issues are not common. Although I have heard stories of crazy adventures other students have had, it never interferes with anyone's academic life and is not pressured by others. During my time at UCI I have seen little drug and alcohol scenes, none of which concerned any problems.
