Restaurants Near Reed
While Portland is known for many ethnic dining options (the "food carts" in particular), there are many great places to find food near (a short walk or bike ride away) Reed. My personal favorite is the Laughing Planet--they offer a variety of vegan/vegetarian/meat-eater friendly burritos along with other latin american inspired dishes. It is a pretty casual atmosphere and the prices are reasonable. There is also the Delta--I have only been there once, but I hear that any fan of southern cuisine will enjoy this funky restaurant.

Athletics at Reed
While there are not any sort of formal athletics at reed, there are certainly many opportunities to stay active. Students are required to take at least 6 PE courses (1 course lasts a quarter) during their time at Reed. There are many options such as yoga, rock climbing, juggling, fencing, ultimate frisbee, etc.

The Reed Experience
The academics at Reed are great--but I would not recommend this college to anyone who feels that extracurriculars are very important. There is plenty to do on campus, and the area is great, but the workload is very overwhelming, and it is very difficult to find time for anything besides schoolwork, but I guess that's what you sign up for when you go to Reed.
