Health & Safety at Smith College

Campus Is Safe-A Few Random People from Town

I have never felt unsafe on Smith's campus. The campus is small. At night, it gets really dark and sometimes it is advised to not wander far from your house by yourself. People from town can go on campus, but there are blue emergency boxes everywhere you turn. If there is ever a time that you feel unsafe, you press the button and Public Safety is there within a minute.

Nightlife at Smith College

Skip the House Parties and Watch a Nice Movie With Friends

Depending on what kind of person you are, the house parties are not much fun if you are not into dancing with girls. Some guys do attend from other colleges, but not many. Your best bet is to watch a movie in your house or room with a couple of friends. Or go to Amherst College, University of Mass, Hampshire College, or even Mount Holyoke (kinda far from Smith) if you want to party with boys. Also, if you are not 21, then you are very limited in what you can do (if you are thinking about drinking).

Transportation at Smith College

A

Buses Are Best Option

Buses are the only way to travel from campus to the mall or somewhere else. If you live only a few hours away, the Peter Pan Bus station is only a few minutes away. Buses run every 20 minutes during the weekends and every hour during weekends. It is free to travel on the bus if you have your college ID. However, if you plan to go to a party at one of the other colleges around, you have to be careful at what time you plan to get back—the buses are extremely late after about 1 a.m.
