Off-Campus Dining at University of Washington

Lots of Options, Facing East

There are many restaurants around the UW. To the East is the U Village, essentially a shopping mall, with some popular chain "Burger Bistro" joints, like the Ram.

The West features the way cooler "Ave" (University Way, for the uninitiated), which has cheaper and more diverse fare. The most common type of cuisine is far and away Asian foods - UW's minority majority offers a constant demand. The rule of thumb I use for Ave spots is that the farther North one walks, the crowds get smaller, the clientele get rougher, the food gets cheaper and most of all better.

Greek Life at University of Washington

Lots of 'Em

UW features one of the Nation's most populous Greek Systems. If you are into the Greek Scene - you'll love it.

However, the system is it's only little city-state that balkanizes a great deal of the University. For example, Paccar Hall is the newest and some would say nicest building on Campus. Due to its location and hosting of the Business school, its pretty much overrun by fratties and sorority ladies. One tries to get a study room there, fails, and peers through study room windows to find AGD's (or some such) utilizing the multi-million dollar facility as a Facebooking spot.

Transportation at University of Washington

B+

U-Pass

Each Student can use the King County Metro for free, but only a handful of non-commuters do. Which is a shame. The KC Metro is typical Public transportation (crowded, people that smell like urine, late buses) for the most part. HOWEVER, once one gets to the Downtown area, the Rapid Transit Trains become an option, and those things rule. They run from SeaTac Airport to Downtown, and will reach campus by 2016.
