Besides GPA,what are some ways that I can improve my chances of getting into JMU (I am planning on being a music major).

Participate in more extra curriculars, practice your instrument, and try to meet professors in the music department.

For those currently enrolled in Virginia Tech's music program, how difficult is it to get into the music technology program there?

I am unfamiliar with the music programs at Virginia Tech, however simply meeting with your assigned adviser will work wonders! All of the advisers I have come into contact with prove to be very helpful and will guide you in the right direction.

I am not sure. I was not involved in the music program.

I'm a junior in high school, and I'm planning to be a music major (music technology/production/engineering). I will do my college music auditions next year. I'm thinking of Virginia Tech. How hard is it to get into the music program there? Also, for those who are currently doing music there, what's it like?

While I don't have any experience myself, I know Virginia Tech's music program has a very strong reputation. However, this should not deter you from applying.

Next year I will start my college music auditions for band, and jazz. How hard is it to get accepted into JMU's school of music?

It's fairly challenging but if you beleive that you are skilled and have mastered an instrument well,your chances of getting in is very likely.

It's pretty challenging, but as long as you work hard and have the skills needed, you can definitely make it in.

I'm a junior in high school, and I'm planning on being a music major (music technology/producing/recording) after high school. Is Old Dominion's music program pretty good? If so, tell me a little bit about your experiences. I want to do marching band too, so that's another reason why I'm looking into Old Dominion.

The ODU marching band is awesome! I have been in marching band for two years and have enjoyed it. its a lot of work, and most weekends are booked with the football games. The music program is good to my knowledge. It's not terribly big.

I'm not a music major so I wouldn't know much about it. Sorry!

ODU has a reputable music program, and good classes are offered. If you have skills then getting into the marching band shouldn't be a problem.
