Academics at Bucknell

Bucknell's academic scene extends far beyond the classroom. The great thing about Bucknell is that students learn and grow from their experiences as a whole--not just books. Yes, the classroom is rigorous at Bucknell. Biology, Engineering and Management are considered to be the most difficult and academically challenging majors. Nevertheless students within these and all disciplines find the time to pursue other interests including sports, community service, environmental initiatives, writing for several of Bucknell's newspapers, Greek life, and much more. Recruiters often say that Bucknell students go into school at a level slightly below those at Bucknell's aspiration institutions, but come out on level far above those students.

Parking at Bucknell

Parking at Bucknell couldn't be better! It's easy and inexpensive to bring your car to the University. Parking options are abundant and many students choose to have their vehicle on campus. In 2010 Bucknell will also pilot a new Zip-Car Program, which will allow students to rent an environmentally friendly car for a period of time. The Zip-Car Program is aimed at reducing the need to bring cars to campus and encouraging carpooling by students. It's just another feature that makes Bucknell's parking situation excellent!

Liberal Arts at Bucknell

As an accounting major at Bucknell, life couldn't get any better for me. I've had the opportunity to take a wide variety of courses outside my major (History of Modern China, Environmental Studies, and Cultural Anthropology, just to name a few), which have broadened my perspective in ways that a strict accounting curriculum never could.

Bucknell's accounting program also makes it easy to the get the 150 credit hours which are typically required to sit for your CPA. Many students at other schools have to take an extra year or enroll in a master's program. At Bucknell, if you didn't come with any AP credits, you can overload a couple of semesters, and BOOM you're done.

PwC, Deloitte, KMPG, and E&Y all have great relationships with Bucknell and recruit us. We enter the workforce infinitive better prepared than if we had enrolled in accounting programs at our peer schools.
