Does anyone have any information about the dance team?

We have multiple dance teams here at Northeastern. Some are member-specific, as in the Korean Dance Association or similar, but most allow anyone to audition!

Do you have a competitive team?

UConn or Northeastern.. opinions?

That depends on what you are looking for -- UConn is basically in the middle of nowhere while Northeastern is in a vibrant city. Both great schools academically but very different in location and atmosphere

how are they in class size and resources?

My roommate had this same problem. She chose UConn because it was cheaper but just as good of a school. She is in the honors program here so the academics are up to par with those of Northeastern. The one thing you should be concerned about is if you'd rather be in a city or on a farm

I'm in exactly the same situation because I was accepted to the honors program at UConn and not at Northeastern. My problem is making the decision between the farm and the city haha.

How is Buckley when it comes to dorms?

Average as far as the dorm itself for freshman, but it's really far away from most of campus.

i heard its pretty bad. also very far away from classes for anyone not in the fine arts department

Does anyone know when early action decisions are coming out? I thought they'd be posted by now!

Jan 30. They're pretty strict about this release date.

But last year they came out the 20th! And on the website it says BEFORE January 30, not on January 30...

Idk but this wait is killing me!

Me too!! I haven't been able to sleep for days!

just came out

The decisions are out!

Is there a dance team? If so, how is it and when do they perform?

When do the Early Action applicants get their decisions? UNC's website says by January 31, but some websites are saying on January 31st and I know that last year people found out on January 20th. Does anyone know?

If the website says by January 31, then it means on or around January 30. Be patient. It'll come. :)

Last, I found out on January 19th. You should be finding our real soon.

Ahh I can't wait!!! The suspense is killing me!!! I just wanna be a tar heel!

How difficult is it to get into University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from out of state?

University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seems like the perfect school for me, but I've heard it's almost impossible to get into from out of state. Is this true?

yes.

If you're out of state then it is most definitely more competitive. They accept about 97 percent of their applicants in state, which means that the 3 percent out of state must be top caliber. If you're not strong in grades, tests, and extracurriculars you should probably try harder.

Since only 15% of UNC's student body is from out of state, the competition is exceptionally tougher. Generally, students at the top of their highschools tend to be accepted into UNC. Usually the students with the highest GPAs, most rigorous course load, and most impressive standardized test scores are admitted.

Simply because of the larger applicant pool and fewer number of available spots, there is a noticible difference between the average in state student and the average out of state student.

But seriously, don't let that keep you from applying. Keep in mind though that you should always have a safety school! Good luck!

difficult

No!!! I am an out-of-state student. As long as you are well-rounded you have a good chance. Just make sure to sell your self!

I have a bunch of questions to ask about applying, is there a way I can contact you? If not we can communicate here. Thanks so much!

No, I know many people from other states! While of course it is more difficult, you can definitely do it!

Not sure. I have friends who are from out of state - mainly from Virginia - but most of the students are from NC. After all it is a state run public school, so I suppose priority is given to residents of NC.

Although most of my friends are from North Carolina, I have quite a few friends from other states. However, most of them have a full ride scholarship. I would say that about three in every ten students are from other states.

I'm not sure because I was in-state but I did know some out of state students just try your best.

Got accepted OOS with Early Action. If you have any questions on what my stats are like, lemme know.

could you share your stats?

I'm curious, too

I applied from out of state and did not get in

me too

34 ACT; 800 Math II Subj. Test; 3.92 UW GPA; 5.36 W GPA; Pretty Good Essay; Very Good Recs; Have a couple of internships; Volunteered + Fundraised a fair amount; Very few EC's, but a lot of time committed to them; Very challenging courseload: 15 APs; and others were either pre-ap or pre-ap GT

How do you end up with a weighted Gpa > 5.0?

our GPA scale is on a 5.0 scale.

That is why I think you are lying. If your GPA is on a 5.0 scale, you can't get anything higher than a 5.0 and if you were that smart, you would know this.

... IT'S CALLED WEIGHTED GPA FOR A REASON.

my lord...

gah. now I have to explain.

We have classes that are on different levels;

Level 1: for Special Ed

Level 2: Regular Classes

Level 3: Pre-AP

Level 4: AP

You get up to 4 GPA points for LVL 1 classes, 5 for LVL 2 classes; 5.5 for LVL 3 classes, and 6 for AP classes.

Ergo, you can get a higher GPA than the GPA scale as long as you take Pre-AP and AP classes.

See. If you were smart, you wouldn't have ignored the "3.92" Unweighted GPA, and would have known what weighted means.

Keep your panties on....you are the one who said a 5.0 scale. In reality, you are on a 6.0 scale. And you must go to a special little school, because I have never heard of anyone getting up to a 5.0 for a regular class. A typical high school is 4.0 for regular classes (no one worries about special ed gpas) and 5.0 for Honors and AP. I understand the word 'weighted' but the issue is that your school has an irregular weighting system that doesn't really help anyone on this website. But I can see why you did well..it doesn't sound like there is much competition. Let me guess, your class size is less than 90 for the entire senior class?

Try 661.
