Call Me Biased...
I have to say, I truly do love UC Santa Cruz, but the overwhelmingly amazing experience I have had thus far. The winning combination of it's location (location, location!), the thorough and innovative professors, truly interesting courses (in my area of study, at least), incredible people and laid back but open-minded atmosphere is unbeatable. The only real problem with the University these days seems to be the ever encroaching dubious fate of student debt, and the politics of the UC as a whole, which is really nothing to do with the TAs and professor availability, and unfortunately is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the corporate takeover of public institutions of this country. Oh well.

You Mean We Have to Hike to Class?
One of the most amazing things about Santa Cruz is that it has the most life-changingly beautiful campus I have ever seen. Literally from the first moment I saw it, I was in love and new I needed to spend the next four years of my life here. I could see redwood treetops from my window, and acoustic music played throughout the day. You see deer when you walk to your classes! That is awesome!

Student Teaching
I have not had an internship, but I was an instructional assistant in a mandatory freshman writing class. I developed lesson plans, ran workshops, and facilitated discussions, as well as private sessions. Iwas paid not for my time in the classroom or the two small discussion groups I ran (I taught more days a week than the professor!), but for the MANY extra hours spent tutoring outside of class.
