Greeks at LMU add a fun social atmosphere to the campus. However your social life won't be compromised at LMU if you don't belong to one due to the hundreds of other social clubs that this school offers.

Simply Glorious
LMU is on the coast, so the weather is not as hot as the inland portions of Los Angeles. Lots of sun, but most often with a cool breeze. Light jackets or hoodies would suffice for most of the school year.

Very Safe
Like most medium sized universities, there are some safety issues, but mostly limited to petty theft, underage drinking or drug use. Compared to other large universities whose campuses are open to the public, LMU definitely is one of the safest schools in the area.

Little Public Transportation
Public transportation is available, but limited. However, the Big Blue Bus I believe can take you down Lincoln Blvd from Los Angeles International to 3rd street Promenade in Santa Monica (with stops in Venice, Marina Del Rey). Unless you commute, you don't really need a car until your junior year when a lot of the stduents move off campus.

Above Average
Facilities are clean and impeccably maintained. What's nice is that the campus has a refreshing mix of architectural styles, with the newer buildings designed to be very sleek and contemporary, which doesn't make the campus look like it's stuck in the past. However, LMU needs a true campus center.

Solid
LMU used to be considered a "basketball school" like Gonzaga, but those days are sadly over. Outside of basketball, the other LMU sports teams are actually quite good, but do not get as much hype or press (like water polo, soccer, baseball, rowing etc.)

Great for its size
LMU is pretty ethnically diverse for its size. However, most students come from middle to upper class families regardless of race. There is a portion of the student body who come from disadvantaged/lower income communities and schools in the Los Angeles area, and are given generous scholarships either from the school or the alumni associations. These students tend to stick together.

Exploring the city
LA is an industry town (film), NOT a college town, so you have to do a bit of exploring when you want to soak up the 'local atmosphere'. But exploring is half the fun! Favorite spots include Manhattan Beach, Mid-Wilshire/Miracle Mile for LACMA, Melrose Ave, Getty Center in Brentwood, and Runyon Canyon.
