Local Atmosphere at Kent State University

B+

Shopping and Activities Downtown

There are a variety of stores to choose from downtown, many of which are locally-owned shops. There's plenty of variety, and even the international community is represented. Acorn Alley in particular has a great sushi place, a novelty store, and an international foods store, which will beg for your wallet's attention. If you're a fan of the social atmosphere, then Firefly will satisfy your need for hookah, along with JB's, which is a small club/bar (18+ on Thursday nights).

Freshman Parking Horrible, but Gets Better as You Advance

If you're a freshman, you'll have to park all the way out in Dix Stadium, which may not bode well if the bus service isn't running at its best when you need it to. As you move up in grade, you'll find way better parking spots on campus, and there are alternatives, such as the churches nearby which offer decent parking spots. One of them doesn't allow overnight parking, but the other does.

Transportation at Kent State University

Buses Are All You've Got

The buses usually run frequently enough, but sometimes they are slow to arrive, and they are horrendous on weekends. On weekdays it is bearable. Hopefully you have everything you need on campus.
