In the name of "diversity," true diversity has disappeared.
UCI has accepted an enormously disproportionate number of Asian and Asian-American students. In fact, less than 5% of the entering freshman class was of a race other than Asian. I've visited other local schools and none are as racially exclusive as UCI.

Low Spirit; No Football Team
No football team means there is little athletic school spirit. No one attends athletic events (basketball, volleyball, etc) unless they have some connection to the team-members.

Good...If You Want to Be a Doctor.
UCI focuses heavily on biology/medical/chemistry programs while greatly neglecting other majors.

Not as Great as They Claim
I'm a native Southern Californian, so the things UCI touts as pluses don't impress me as much as someone from the backwoods. The beach/LA/Disneyland are NOT as close as they claim them to be, and it's extremely difficult for on-campus students to access these locations. Irvine has few attractions, and the school is located in a residential/business area that can be described in one word: BORING.

Parking? TERRIBLE.
Parking is a nightmare at UCI. You must pay over $400-$500 per year, but are forced to park in a single "zone," most of which are inconveniently located in relation to classrooms/school buildings. The parking lots/structures are always full and the students park atrociously. I've heard far too many stories of dented and scratched cars from people forced to leave their vehicles in school lots.
