Diversity: "White and Loaded" Not Always the Norm

While W&L is still deeply enamored of its bow-ties, khakis, pearls, and Vineyard Vines, there is definitely diversity on campus. This diversity has been an upward trend of late. As a First-Year myself I know students of all different backgrounds and ethnicities. A very stern talk given to all First-Years at the beginning of the year, warning against racist behavior, might make one think that this behavior is common but as far as I can tell that is simply not true. (Then again, I am white and loaded so my opinion can only go so far). Yes -- there are still the white and loaded at W&L (who else would pay for all the parties?) But people of all backgrounds are welcome.

Hook-Up

Do not go to W&L looking for a soul mate, long walks on the beach, or someone to enjoy long romantic bubble baths with (ok, no one looks for that, but you get the point). But seriously, it is really not a dating community. I have heard rumors of upperclassmen couples (people who actually refer to themselves as boyfriend and girlfriend *gasp* but I cannot confirm this). However if you enjoy hooking up, this is the place for you. Guys are awarded the highest honor, that of "6-Star General" when they have slept with a girl from each sorority. All this can be bad or good, depending on the way you look at it. Either way, its a ton of fun *wink*;)

Oh, looks!! We are preppy, very preppy. We do not wear sweat pants. We wear pearls often. We are rather good-looking, but of course this can differ. We are the best.
