Drinking Is Kind of a Big Deal

Most students drink, and a lot also go out to parties on weekends. Even people who don't go to parties usually drink in the dorms or in apartments. I don't think the drug scene is that big of a deal at Pitt, except for weed and caffeine and prescription pills during finals week. Its a chill scene and not very pressuring. There is always the option to do what you want.

Market Central

Depending on what time you go there, it is okay, but typically the food is not very good. It is usually acceptable for the most part, and there are definitely a lot of options! The best options I found were the sandwich station and Magellan's.

Apartments Off-Campus

They are very easy to find, The Pitt News has ads in the classifieds all the time. The quality of the apartments are so-so. Its easy to see that it is a college area and you will end up paying for location rather than quality. I suggest heavily cleaning the apartment before you move in because college students are NOT very clean people and the landlords don't really care because they know they will be able to rent out the apartment either way.
