Safe
Campus crime is not a huge issue here in Boulder. There have been a few robberies at night, but if students walk at night in groups, they are typically safe. The CU Night Ride is also incredible, and definitely helps students stay safe, as well as the emergency phones. Alcohol and pot are an issue, but these can easily be avoided. The party scene is immense, but nobody is forced to participate. I have rarely felt unsafe on campus, and only when walking alone at night.

Great Libraries
CU Boulder has fantastic libraries, an incredible study abroad program, a great gym, and tons of campus activities. The campus is simply beautiful, and the flatirons are always great for hiking. There is never "nothing to do" at CU Boulder.

Helpful and Available
There are some pretty good scholarships, but there simply aren't enough to REALLY help. Students definitely need to apply for scholarships outside of CU as well.

Off Campus Housing
Off campus housing is expensive in Boulder. If you can live in Bear Creek apartments, those are great because they're with the school and will take care of roommate differences and similar issues without legal problems. But housing in Boulder is expensive because the location has so much to offer.

Hippies and Non-Coloradoans
It's true, there are plenty of hippies, party-ers and druggies at CU. Both guys and girls. But CU is also full of incredibly hard working, intelligent and talented kids. The guys tend to be skiers or snowboarders, and the girls usually do the same but dress nicer. There are a lot of people from foreign countries, as well as from other areas of the U.S. Everyone here is accepting and kind, however. It's sunny in Colorado, and the people are always smiling.

Bus, Car, Bike, Feet
In Boulder, you either walk, bike, take a bus or drive. It's easy enough to reach anyplace on campus by foot, it's just a little faster on a bike or skateboard. There are tons of longboarders in Boulder. There is a great bus system that goes all over Boulder as well as up into the mountains best ski resorts, as well as connects Boulder to Denver and other major cities. Cars can be useful, however the vast majority of students are perfectly fine without it. Cars are a hassle here, especially when searching and paying for parking.
