High school ranking-disadvantage?

I'm going to be a junior next year so I still have roughly a year to a year and a half to improve my gpa and test scores. However, putting those factors aside, will I be at a disadvantage due to my class rank? I get mainly A's, with a few b's but only in my honors or AP classes. (I did get one C for a quarter grade in my honors geometry class freshman year -_-) My school doesn't weight grades for the ranking so people who could be taking the least amount of classes or easiest classes possible could be ranked 1st in the whole class. Will this hurt me even though I'm truly within the top 10 or 15%?

IvyAdvisor- I go to a small school so there are not nearly as many AP courses than there would be at a bigger school. However I am taking as many as possible. Also, will my freshman year completely hurt me if I have a strong upward trend? I dealt with only the beginning of a long, painful divorce between my parents starting off my high school career. I do believe this had some effect on my schoolwork. I got roughly a 3.3 unweighted with all honors courses that year, and a 3.75 unweighted my sophomore year. This coming year I plan on trying my absolute hardest to achieve a 4.0 with two AP classes (only ones offered). I already have been studying for the ACT's as well. Basically if I finish out strong, with roughly a 3.7 GPA by the time I start applying to colleges, a high ACT, and a handful of EC's (varsity tennis, Italian club, French club, SADD, volunteering, NHS, beta club) do I have a chance at my top school right now, Florida? I feel like I'm freaking out for nothing but the class rank and my freshman year really worry me.

Ofcourse not , I was in the same position you are in, as long as you keep the grades at the same general area they are right now and have plenty of community service hours and wright a good essay you'll be fine.

I believe it does, however colleges are going to be looking at challenging courses you have taken and how good you have done in them. Many schools will pleased to have you.

don't worry. UF doesnt look at just grades. they look at everything you have done for the past four years.

As long as you have a transcript full of challenging classes like AP and Honors, you shouldn't be worried. Colleges and universities want to see you challenge yourself more than a class rank.

No it won't. The University of Washington emphasizes on the personal statement and look at your application wholly, not just by what your school ranks you in.

I dont think so. G.P.A isnt all a good looks at. They look for your extra curricular activities and your involvement in your community. A well written personal statement and involvement with your community is a big plus.

As long as most of your grades are As, it should not hurt.
