Pretty Good
As a freshman I've had a mixed experience. The profs seem really dedicated to their work and research and are passionate about teaching and helping. However, my first semester was made up entirely of giant lectures of like 100 people. They were fine (except for my s****y precalc professor), but if you want a personal experience for everything including your gen. eds and freshman classes you might want a smaller school. The lectures were not a problem to learn in though. And most of my teachers have been very good. For a state university, I'd say UNH is average to above average in academics

Awesome Computers
I, and pretty much everyone else has laptops. Currently all of the academic builds, student building and dining halls have wifi. They are working on getting the whole campus wireless. Some of the dorms do. In the ones that don't (like mine) an ethernet cord seems stupid at first but isn't that bad and is actually faster than the wifi. The library has plenty of computers, a mix of windows and mac, there are computer clusters in all of the buildings you can either use with or without signing on. When my printer bombs the library and academic building printers come in handy.

Durham Is Small, but Great
UNH is located in the small town of Durham, NH. Most of the town is made up of the campus. "Downtown" consists of a a few restaurants, bars, shops and stores along mainstreet. There is also a small shopping center with a grocery store, dominos, Rite aid and some other stores. Although the town is quite small and may not offer everything, the free bus system is fabulous. It will take you to the mall (with just about every store you need), the awesome town of Portsmouth, Dover and New Market. The shuttle runs often, and very consistently. Durham is an awesome college town! Also, the beach, mountains and skiing aren't to far away. And a train runs through campus that will take you to Boston and New York.

I'm Not a Greek but I Like Their Parties
I'm not really sure how many people do the Greek thing. I'm not into it, but a bunch of people are. It's not really something that 'everyone' does. I've been to a bunch of frats for parties. Most of them are really fun, but with varying levels of house sketchiness and nastiness. "Frat Row" is where the houses are. People that are in frats and sororities are accepted and everything, but it's just not something everyone does. I just appreciated them for their parties. Also, I think they do a bunch of charity work. I know that UNH doesn't recognize a lot of the existing frats, but that doesn't really change much.

I Was Scared It Would Be Cold...
I'm from Connecticut and hate the cold. I was worried that UNH would be freezing and snowy, but so far it's been really weird weather. In my first semester, our first day of class was canceled due to a hurricane, we had a blizzard over Halloween, and it rained every single Thursday for the entire semester. It's been very mild, and rainy and the only snow was over Halloween. It's just been a really really strange year for weather. I've heard that classes rarely get canceled for snow...it is New Hampshire
