Typical.
If you know the right people, it seems possible to get almost anything on campus - probably due to the ridiculous crime rate in the city itself. Underage drinking is everywhere, but that is to be expected on a college campus. Pot use is much higher than I expected; I know several people that smoke in the residence halls and have been doing so for months. People speak openly about using Adderall and other ADHD drugs prior to important exams or for studying.

Awful
Freshmen at CofC cannot buy parking space, and the cost for parking is through the roof in the city. If you plan on commuting, good luck finding a place to park on campus. Though there are many garages in the surrounding area, you'll end up spending a fortune.

It's Okay
As a vegetarian, campus dining is sometime a hassle. Liberty Fresh Food company has amazing food and options, but you have to dine in, so it is inconvenient at times. Einstein's Bagels are tasty, but the staff is slow. As for the Hungry Cougar? It's hit or miss. Sometimes the food is great, but other days it is enough to make me mope away in defeat.

Yikes
The school sends out e-mail reports of incidents, and there are more violent attacks or sexual assaults than I expected. I fear walking back from other resident halls at night, so I often stay in if I can't find someone to go with. Sure, there are escort services, but you have to wait for them and one escort actually stopped at a convenience store and brought food back into the car when my roommate used the service. The emergency booths are few and far between.

Avoid This Dorm
College Lodge - you'll probably hear a lot about it. Some people sugar coat the story and say it has "charm". Don't listen to them. College Lodge is about as charming as a dirty rest stop. The plumbing is the original plumbing... from the days when the dorm was actually a hotel. The building frequently experiences days without hot water. My roommate and I have put in multiple maintenance calls concerning leaks, water pressures issues, rotting tile, etc. It's disgusting to say the least. I cannot believe that the administrative staff feels that these living conditions are acceptable under any circumstances - especially when you consider that the cost of living there is about $550 a month. I dread waking up in the morning because I have to spend another day there.
