Greek Life at Loyola Marymount University

B+

Greeks Are Everywhere, but Not Overbearing

I'd say a majority of LMU is greek, but that's because the system is different than other schools. If you WANT to go through recruitment, chances are you will end up in a house. It might not be the house of your dreams, but you may get into something, depending. There are no houses off campus, so Greek Life is more like a giant one-gender club than anything. There several greek events throughout the year, and it seems like at least once a month one sorority or fraternity is having a philanthropy (i.e. Derby Days, Turtle Tug, Golf, etc). Each sorority and frat does there own thing, there are exchanges between one sorority one frat. The frequency is really dependent on how the scheduling goes between the social chairs. Being in Greek Life sort of guarantees friends, but it isn't as exciting as Greek life at USC or UCLA.

Transportation at Loyola Marymount University

C-

You Will Most Likely Need a Car

You will most likely need a car. This isn't Westwood. There are hardly any "great" activities centered around LMU, all are in driving distance. You could take a taxi, but it would cost you big time. You could probably walk to the store or to subway, but that's about it. I would recommend bringing a car on campus, but the parking stinks, so good luck.

Scholarships at Loyola Marymount University

B

Moderate Financial Aid Given

I wouldn't go to this school unless you can pay at least 1/2 of tuition every year it without Financial Aid. The financial aid is decent, but is mostly FAFSA related such as Cal Grants and state grants. You may get a "need" scholarship based on your need, but you will have to apply for other things once you get on campus or on fastwebs.com. They will give you school loans, but I advise that you do not take out more than 5,000 per year- you don't want to be leaving LMU with 20,000 in debt.
