Having a Life. The online learning system used is Blackboard, which has some rather annoying quirks which the instructors do not know how to handle all the time. This provides some hiccups to the online course. It is also rather easy to forget to check the online classes. However, it is so much easier to have a life with on-line courses. You plan your school around your life and not your life around school.
High Standards – For the most part, when signing up for a class, one must expect to learn. The professors, although are very kind and willing to help, have a standard of excellence that they expect every student to meet. It then becomes an enjoyable challenge to meet this expectation. This then becomes the over arching drive for most students.
Well Prepared. I am only at NMSU-A for my Freshmen and part of my Sophomore years. It is a very friendly environment where the instructors and professors really want the student to meet success. I have been nothing but impressed in the intimate class sizes and ample learning opportunities. I know that when I transfer, I will be well prepared.
A nice thing about this school is they do not only want to teach the student the subject, they also want to teach life skills and critical thinking. The school is also very active in the community.
