Quite Diverse
I would say Scripps is more diverse than it is given credit for. Maybe this is a recent trend or something, but I see people from almost all ethnicities pretty frequently. Plus the international population is notable. As a freshman, I have met other freshmen from China, India, Malaysia, Mauritius and Spain. There are many first-gen students too, and no prevalence of one type of economic background.

Gorgeous, Pristine, and up to Date
The facilities at Scripps are gorgeous, to say the least. Our gym is quite new, but retains a Mediterranean charm. Most of the cardio machines have TV's and there are plenty of spaces for group classes, plus a workout balcony overlooking a picturesque area of campus. The Scripps library is very charming and has a Hogwarts feel to it. Plus, the enormous and modern Honnald Mudd library is nearby.

Fun!
Scripps does not have a ton of big parties, but the other schools have many. There is always multiple things to do on and off campus every weekend and the challenge is just determining what you want to do.

Challenging but Rewarding
My first semester of freshman year has been demanding, but the quality of my classes and professors are amazing. Core 1 has particularly challenged my perceptions and has caused me to look at texts... and the world in a new way. Although the readings are difficult (my professor says many are taught at the graduate level), everybody at the college takes this class and it is nice to be figuring out the texts together.

Not a Problem
Scripps has a pleathora of majors, from Art Conservation to Economics. Aside from Scripps' specific majors, the Claremont Colleges also has several joint academic programs and Scrippsies can also choose to have an outside major at another campus (ex. Theater at Pomona) or to create their own (I know several self-designed creative writing majors)

Also...
One thing I love about Scripps is the closeness between teachers and students. At the end of this semester, my Core professor took my class out to eat. I also encountered few problems, when registering for classes for the Spring semester- even with a late registration time (4pm on the last day). However, I was able to get into the classes I wanted to take by expressing my interest in their class to the teachers beforehand. I ended up getting access to all the classes I wanted to take, even though they were technically full by my registration time

Good, but not Important
The off- campus dining in Claremont is great. The village has a range of options such as thai food, diners, little mexican places, vegan places, and cafes. Plus in n out is close and many places deliver and take Claremont Clash.
Although there are many options closeby, the dining options at the 5-Cs are superb and the dining halls always have a variety of options.

Dorms Like Palaces
The dorms at Scripps are spacious and beautiful. Often times girls come here and find that they have more closet space than they did back home. The old dorms (clark, toll, dorsey, browning) do not have air conditioning, but make up for it in charm. GJW is considered the best dorm, as it is very new, air conditioned but retains the style of the old dorms.

Options
Since you have the opportunity to do a major at any of the 5 C's, your options are plentiful. Creating your own major is also a possibility. Most Scrippsies double or dual major, or at least have a minor, since we tend to be interested in many fields.

Options!
I am an intern at an office on campus, and am paid a relatively high amount per hour. Each department offers plenty of paid intern opportunities even to students who do not qualify for work study or financial aide. Time commitments vary, but my bosses are very flexible and encourage me to put schoolwork first. It is a great opportunity to build your resume, get money, and learn more about a field.
CP&R constantly sends out newsletters with job opportunities, so finding a job or internship is no problem.

Computers Are Awesome
Scripps has excellent, speedy wi-fi! Each dorm also has a computer lab that is available at all times, and a printer. I recommend bringing a personal computer so that you can work wherever you want and so you are not stuck if any of the labs are full, but personal printers are unnecessary for the most part. IT will connect your laptop to your dorm's printer and there are several available in other locations. Each student is given an huge amount of free pages, and it only costs a few cents to go over that (which almost nobody does)
The only real complaint that people have about computing at Scripps is that our school emails are on Novell Groupwise rather than gmail.

Claremont Is Totally Safe
The colleges have their own army of campus safety officers who patrol every party. However, their focus is to prevent harm rather than bust underage drinkers. Crime is almost non existant, and students are notorious for leaving their laptops in the open when they leave for a moment. I would still recommend exercising caution though, because there are the occasional reports of petty thefts and uncomfortable encounters with sketchy people from off campus. If you take basic security measures you should be fine though.

Parking Is Fine
Basically, Scripps has a huge parking garage underneath the field house, plus there are other places you can park on campus. I think it costs one set price to park per year, and it is pretty reasonable. I don't have a car, but still can walk or bike to several areas nearby. I would bring a car if I had one though, because it makes going to LA much easier (although metrolink, zipcar, buses, and scripps vans are very useful for this).
