The city of Troy where RPI is more than less boring with a few fast food places and the normal chain restaurants, with the exception of a new sports bar and grill. Outside of Troy, no more than 15 min away towards U Albany you will find better choices, nicer restaurants etc.

Greeks Are Okay
Greeks at RPI are mostly known for their parties but most of the time you have to be in with one of the brothers to get in. Its no big deal if you are not in a Greek organization.

Drinking Is Dominate
Most parties serve drinks at the venue, but they all check ID so underage is marked before you can even get in. A small portion of students smoke which is not a big deal since RPI is going to a smoke free campus.
